Daniel Lim graduated with a Diploma in Music from La-Salle SIA College of the Arts in 2001. Upon graduation, Daniel has performed extensively with the “Modern Quartet” from 1998 to 2000. The quartet explores traditional instruments like the gamelan and gu zheng fusing it’s musical sounds into western classical music, electronic music and sound work. Some of their notable performances included Asean Arts’ Awards, LaSalle Graduation Show, Inter Religious Organization Singapore Annual Dinner at the Jamiyah Islamic Centre with Minister Abdullah Tarmugi as guest of honor and a host of many other functions and events.
Daniel Lim took classical guitar masterclasses with Flavio Cucchi (Italy), Benjamin Verdery (USA) and Yang Xue Fei (China). He continues to passionately pursue his love for the classical guitar through regular practices and performances.
Daniel taught classical guitar at Tomas Music Centre from 2004 to 2006 and Serangoon Community Centre from 2005 to 2007. He coached the junior guitar ensemble of Victoria Junior College from 2006 to 2008, curriculum guitar at Bartley Secondary School in 2008 and the guitar club at Temasek Polytechnic from 2006 to 2008. One of which was the “Creative Music Enrichment Course” that was conducted at St. Joseph’s Institution and National Junior College. This programme explores the intimate sounds of guitar and latin percussions within the genre of Latin American Music. Daniel Lim led St. Gabriel’s Secondary in their first SYF performance and attained a Gold in 2009. Currently, he co-instructs the guitar ensembles of St. Joseph's Institution and Nanyang Polytechnic alongside with Michael Gaspar.
